New production and storage hall under construction

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the first pile for our new production and storage hall was driven. A special moment that we have been eagerly awaiting! Together with the Molenschot construction team, we enthusiastically started the realization of our new construction project.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH AND OPTIMIZATION

This year, a brand new production and storage hall measuring 30 by 90 meters will be built right next to our current factory hall. This gives us an additional floor space of 2,500 square meters, which offers plenty of room for growth. Much needed, says Marco Alderlieste: “The decision to build our new hall stems from the growing demand for circular rubber products and our shortage of space to expand our production lines. The increasing awareness of the need for circular products has significantly increased the demand for our products. The construction of the new hall is essential. Not only to increase our production capacity, but also to optimize our processes and offer our employees an improved working environment.”

UPGRADING PRODUCTION AND LOGISTICS PROCESSES

The construction of the new hall also offers us the opportunity to modernize both our production and logistics processes. We are focusing on robotization by adding more advanced robot presses to our production lines. These robot presses take over physically demanding work and repetitive tasks, significantly reducing the workload for our employees and improving ergonomics. Furthermore, the additional space allows us to optimize the factory floor and warehouse, increasing the efficiency of our logistics processes. In addition to improvements to existing processes, this also contributes to a more modern and sustainable working environment. An important step forward!

PLANNING AND COMPLETION

Following the completion of the piling works, we will progress through various construction phases, including laying the foundation, assembling the steel structure and wall and roof panels, pouring the concrete floor, and installing windows, doors, and frames. Up to the shell completion, this process is taken care of by Molenschot, with the basic structure finalized and the building made wind and waterproof, currently scheduled for week 24.

Sander Wagemaker, Granuband’s project leader for the setup of the new hall, states: “After the shell completion, the setup phase begins, where we gradually equip the hall with all necessary facilities, such as power connections, lighting, machine installations, and warehouse setup. It’s an extensive project for which a detailed project plan has been devised. All flows and activities on our company premises and in the factories have been mapped out, including the required and relocating equipment. A very exciting project to work on!” If everything goes according to plan, the new hall should be ready for use by the end of the third quarter of 2024.

The construction of the new hall is essential. Not only to increase our production capacity, but also to optimize our processes and offer our employees an improved working environment.  —  Marco Alderlieste
